Description

Sorcerer of sultry SaQi returns to Jumpsuit Records with the captivating new EP Broken Castles, out on October 21st, 2016. The celebrated chieftain is back with an updated sound, rich in myriad rhythms and intoxicating melodies. The new material is strongly rooted in saQi's long-established sound, yet also offers a glimpse into the vast array ideas and influences that inform this deacon of dance floor delicious. The classically-trained multi-instrumentalist/producer is no stranger to the label; he has released material on Jumpsuit for many years, and the family is thrilled to have him back for another steamy round of rapture.
The title track (and it's tremendous minimalist house remix) features enveloping vocals from Pharroh, and delivers a potent dose of syncopated, mid-tempo beats and orgasmic lyrical poetry.  SaQi (taken from the Sufi term for "mystic muse) atypically dug deep for inspiration, decamping to his beloved Nevada City, CA; he reached out to collaborators old and new, rounding up Rorschack, Worth, Kat Factor and Rigzin to mine a crystallized blend of ambrosial art. Ably assisted by this venerable dream team, saQi unveils a small slice of salacious, satiating the masses that have been clamoring for fresh material. If the Broken Castles EP is any indication of how Luke Solman's creative juices are flowing as 2016 draws to a close, then the people will be savoring saQi's erogenous elixirs for some time to come.  - Brian Getz
