Biography
“long_loaf” is the solo ambient project of 20 year old Murmansk based producer – Ivan Bateev. In his music, he tries to convey the barely perceptible mood of the environment that he lives in, and the empathy shown from his experiences - whether they are artistic or personal.
As a resident of a place that is known more for being the birthplace and the graveyard for submarines that were used by the Russian Navy in the Second World War, “long_loaf” has settled with the fact that he lives in an area bruised by dereliction and past international conflicts, as opposed to one that has been sweetened by middle-class gentrification. With that alone, it has strongly influenced him in his music, along with his large collection of overlooked records that come from various genres in various eras.
