Eatliz is an alternative rock band, based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Through its 7 years of existence, Eatliz has been performing endlessly in Israel, building a strong cult following of indie rock fans.
The band had released its debut album 'Violently Delicate' in 2007, with Anova Records. The album was promoted with two worldwide awarded videos – 'Attractive' and 'Hey'. Attractive was chosen to promote the MTV Artists Spot that was made about the band and also won the first prize in the video category of the Ourstage website, while Hey participated and won over 70 worldwide animation and short films festivals (including the precious #1 prize of the 2009 Babelgum contest, awarded by Spike Lee). Both videos gained over 500,000 views in Youtube only, and were featured in first place in local YouTube channels in , Spain, Italy and more.
The album received terrific reviews and was played constantly in Israel's leading alternative radio stations. It was selected in the 'best of' lists of that year. In 2008 it was also released in , Austria and Switzerland, leading to an invitation on behalf of the Popkomm festival 08 to play a showcase.
The music of Eatliz is described by the band as 'complicated pop', as the songwriting of Guy Ben Shitrit and the band are eclectic and combine various of influences, from soft pop to hard-rock elements, brings to mind bands like Mars Volta, Mr. Bungle, and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Bjork, Portishead and Cardiacs. The variety of styles the band combines in a single song, has helped them gain fans of many genres, crossing ages and countries.
The band will release an EP of outtakes from the first album, called 'Delicately Violent', in November 2009. The beginning of 2010 will see the release of a second album of new materials.
