Victoire

Victoire, a Brooklyn-based band founded by composer Missy Mazzoli, has a distinct sound that harks back to the age of the gramophone (Victoire was once called "Victrola", but RCA shut that down pretty quickly) but in a modern setting. Strings, clarinets and keyboards sweep around sounds ranging from sewing machines and answering machine tapes into what has been called "minimalist, post-rock bliss."
