Biography

More than three decades after its birth, The Pop Group are still going strong and performing on stage proclaiming that it was them, authors of the essential “Y”, who were the first to make post-punk and to transform it at the end of the seventies by fusing punk, funk, dub with highly politicized lyrics. Abrasive, primitive and guided by the fighting spirit of Mark Stewart, the Bristol band called it a day after their second album, “For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder?” but, after a comeback in 2010, they are now back to spew out songs like “We Are All Prostitutes” and “We Are Time” into the faces of the crowd.
