Biography
It's always interesting to come across an artist who defies most definitions of genre familiarity. Mike Shiflet is one of those artists. "Drone" or "Noise" would fit, though not quite communicate the subtlety and nuance that go into Shiflet's work. He manages to coil together threads of twinkling minimalist static, pulsing modulated filters, oscillating pools of carbonation and spitting textures that crescendo into monoliths of intense yet intimate electronic swells. It's as good a fit for sitting quietly on your back porch watching fireflies or at a busy intersection watching traffic.
