Description
Drawing from that fine tradition of country folk singers, Melaena Cadiz has been making a name for herself both as a solo artist and as a backing vocalist. Her pastoral music is filled with her unusually arresting voice, a standout especially when she performs live. Melaena has been compared to the likes of June Carter Cash and Patsy Cline with a touch of Joanna Newsome's unusual style. Cadiz also has a haunting role in Matt Bauer's video "Blacklight Horses." Melaena Cadiz is in town with her band and plays live on WFMU.
