Part of the Lately Kind of Yeah archive series.
Zozo is a unique work in the LKOY catalog, comprised of songs recorded as part of a weekly exercise. Balanced between crunchy distortion and frosty ambient elements, the flow of Zozo is reminiscent of the transition between a particularly hot autumn and crisp winter. Gentle serenity trades off with barrages of heavy guitar attacks. Various vocal textures are on display; sweet clarity, aggressive screams, and whispers. Guitar artistry is evident throughout, with kaleidoscopic freakout ages punctuated with more spectral instrumentation, perhaps the peak of LKOY’s achievement in instrumentation, which is saying a great deal for this dynamic, disciplined artist who has been part of the Vulpiano family for over a decade.
