In 1981, Martin Newell and Lawrence "Lol" Elliot would record and release their debut cassette, Blow Away Your Troubles, under the Cleaners from Venus tag. The tape's rough sound speaks of starry-eyed pop desperation -- as charming as it is aggressive -- and foretells the band's direction as they appropriate pop, psychedelia and even dub to shape their evolving sound. Brooklyn-based label Captured Tracks lent the original cassette the 2xLP treatment in April of 2012; it contains all 22 tracks, all of which appeared on various permutations of the same tape the band sold in the early '80s.
